22-10-2026. Barcelona. Técnicas Sanjorge (TSJ), the lead company of the agricultural products and services platform backed by Mediterrania Capital Partners, has completed the acquisition of 100% of AgroProtectors, a company specialising in turnkey solutions that leverage the latest technologies to provide physical protection and support for crops in a sustainable manner.
The transaction coincides with the launch of Grovium, the new group brand and identity that brings together the companies added since 2023, consolidating its position as one of Spain’s leading groups in products, services and sustainable solutions for the agriculture.
Based in Barcelona, AgroProtectors markets nets and products for crop protection and support: anti-bird, anti-insect and anti-hail nets for crops such as table grapes and berries; trellising and shade nets for fruit orchards and vineyards; individual tree guards for forestry plantations and landscaping; and stakes and posts for organic farming. These solutions leverage the latest innovations to improve crop quality and yields, while promoting more sustainable agricultural practices. Over the past five years, the company has built a commercial network with customers in 21 countries across four continents.
A consolidation project in the agricultural sector
AgroProtectors is the fifth acquisition in the project launched by Mediterrania Capital Partners in July 2023 with its investment in Técnicas Sanjorge, a company founded in Huelva in 2000 and specialising in the manufacture of greenhouses, hydroponic growing systems, irrigation and agricultural supplies. With TSJ as the platform’s lead company, in 2024 the group added two companies engaged in the production and sale of agricultural substrates and coconut fibre, which operate under the Coflor brand, followed by Requasur Levante (RQA), which specialises in installing irrigation systems, water projects for agriculture and the sale of irrigation equipment.
The result is a group capable of covering virtually all of a farmer’s needs: from designing the optimal end-to-end sustainable solution for a farm, through producing and installing the greenhouse structure and the growing and irrigation systems, to water management, substrates and crop protection, all developed and delivered through the group’s various businesses. Grovium serves all types of customers, from small local growers to large multinational agri-food companies, which are gaining prominence in a sector undergoing consolidation and transformation towards the use of new technologies. Grovium’s offering is characterised by a growing share of sustainable solutions such as hydroponic cultivation, which enables more efficient use of water and fertilisers, improves crop productivity and reduces soil contamination.
The group’s growth reflects rising demand for more efficient and sustainable agricultural solutions, with revenues expected to increase from €23 million in 2023 to €45 million in 2026. Since Mediterrania Capital Partners’ investment, international sales have grown from 16% to 36% of total revenue. Africa now accounts for 63% of the group’s international sales, which have tripled on the continent since MCP’s investment. MCP’s local presence and track record in Africa have been instrumental in supporting this expansion.
The integration of Técnicas Sanjorge, Coflor, RQA and AgroProtectors has led to the creation of Grovium, an umbrella brand that brings the four businesses together while allowing each to retain its existing trade name. Grovium aims to provide customers worldwide with an integrated and innovative offering of sustainable agricultural solutions, while serving as a platform for further growth through both organic expansion and acquisitions.
Octavi Bisquert, General Manager of AgroProtectors, said: “Joining Grovium allows us to offer our customers a much more comprehensive proposition and to take a leap forward in our growth, backed by a group with industrial capabilities, an international presence and a shared vision of what the agriculture of the future should be. I will remain fully involved in the project, with the same enthusiasm with which we built AgroProtectors.”
Edesio Caamaño, founder and General Manager of Técnicas Sanjorge, added: “AgroProtectors completes our offering with a product family our customers had been asking for and opens up new markets for us, particularly in Latin America. With Grovium, we are taking a further step towards our goal of being the go-to supplier for farm owners, advising and supporting them to meet their needs with more efficient and sustainable solutions.”
According to Daniel Viñas, Senior Partner at Mediterrania Capital Partners, “When we invested in Técnicas Sanjorge, we saw the opportunity to build, from a company with a great team and a unique model, a group with the scale needed to compete and become an innovative and sustainable international leader. In three years, we have doubled its size and multiplied its presence abroad, especially in Africa, where our local network has allowed us to open doors and support the team on the ground. We are convinced this model is replicable: many Spanish and Southern European SMEs that lead their niche can scale up by combining inorganic growth and internationalisation, and we want to keep supporting them on that journey.”
